[EM] Public elections are the ones that matter.

The use of better voting systems in organizations, meetings, committees,
etc. is important because it provides precedent for the adoption of better
voting systems for public elections.

For that reason, organizations should be encouraged to use methods that
would be good proposals in public elections, so that the precedent will be
useful.

Public voting systems are the mechanism that (if a good one is used and
honestly counted) translate expressed public wishes into public policy.
Public policy affects every aspect of our material environment. Even a bird
in a tree in the most remote forest is affected by public policy, and
therefore by voting systems.
