This is indeed interesting. The author makes it sound
like this election (where the Condorcet & IRV winners differed) was
showign the superiority of Condorcet.
However, it also seems possible to me that the Condorcet winner won as
a result of strategic voting occuring (in part). THerefore, the true "honest"
winner was perhaps somebody else.
I am not saying this is the case. All I am saying is, it is a possibility,
and one which the author of this analysis devotes zero consideration to.
Conceivably the range winner (had range voting been done, which it wasn't)
would have been different too. The situation was also complictaed because
it appears many of the voters did not fully understand the rules (i.e. equal
rankings were permitted).
So this election is mysterious. The fact that 488 distinct vites
occurred, a large fraction of the number of possible votes, suggests
to me also that something funny is happening like strategy.
Maybe.
