Not only is Borda notorious for its unequalled strategy problems, and for
being the only proposed method that can fail to elect a candidate whom each
voter has voted over all the others, but Copeland is just ridiculous.
No method violates clone-independence the way that Copeland does. Every
Copeland election tends to become a clone-game.
Say we're voting on what movie to go to. There are Westerns, SciFi, and
Adventure. Those are clone sets. Westerns beat SciFi, SciFi beats Adventure,
and Adventure beats Westerns.
If there are lots of SciFi and few Advenature, then Westerns will win for
that reason. What kind of reason is that for choosing a movie? Or an
officeholdler?
