[EM] Programming Question

I know, this is off-topic, but I suspect many people here could answer this:

I want to learn a little C++. I don't have the time or inclination to
master it right now, but looking at job listings I see that when I finish
grad school it will help if I have some C++ knowledge. I wouldn't go for
a purely programming job, but a lot of listings indicate that a certain
amount of computational work will be required as part of a project, and
the lingua franca of the company is C++.

Can anybody recommend a decent reference for somebody engaging in self
study? I used to do a lot of C programming at one time, but lately I've
mostly worked in Mathematica. I normally work in Windows, and I can
easily get my hands on a C++ compiler.
