This is at least the 1st installment of my reply to Beth
Cornell's question about what's going on here, at least as
I perceive it, especially as regards the 1st Choice Criterion
& why I consider it important.

Netcom's line-noise garbage-eruption problem is rampant tonight,
and so again I must reply in brief installments.

In fact this is about the most I can expect to send before
netcom's problem happens.
