RV stands for Range Voting. It's the name used in the advocacy of what we 
were here callling Cardinal Ratings (CR):

The voter may give, to each one of the candidates, any number of points that 
s/he wants to., within a range pre-specified by the method's rules. Of 
course the voter may give different numbers of points to different 
candidates.
