Russ says:

Think
about it. Mike says that, "e-mail often can't handle the indentation."
That's baloney. This isn't rocket science, folks.

I reply:

"This isn't rocket science, folks" is supposed to be a decisive argument,
presumably.

I'd noticed that e-mail sometimes changes line format and indentations. I'd
had the experience of Python indentations scrambled by e-mail.

That's not a complicated notion or a complicated or controversial statement.

Russ continues:

By the way, I had no problem with the indentation in the code Mike
emailed to me.

I reply:

That's nice, and of course there was the possibility that you wouldn't. But
there was also the possibility that the indentations would arrive scrambled,
and that's why I added the "endif" and "endfor".

Russ continues:

The fact is that Mike simply could not grasp the idea of having no
explicit "end" delimiters.

I reply:

Actually, I explained, at the time, when I sent the Python program listing,
with the "endif" and "endfor", why I was using "endif" and "endfor". I
clarified that it was because indentations are sometimes scrambled by
e-mail.

Russ continues:

But that should be no surprise, considering
that he puts stuff like "[end of MMPO AERLO definition]" after a
one-sentence "definition."

I reply:

It's nice to know when a definition ends and other text starts. I don't like
to leave any doubt about that which part is the definition, and which part
is a discussion about the definition.

Russ continues:

Mike has no scruples about calling me a liar, but he is the one who has
a proven track record of lying about me.

I reply:

...except that you don't have an example. You liied throughout your stories
about the Python program that I sent to you, for instance.
