Chris--

You said:

I am an Australian, and Mike O.'s generalisation about Australian IRV
voters (that they employ FPP strategy to a great or significant degree)
certainly doesn't "ring true" to me either!
I stand by my previous posts in which I tried in vain to put Mike right
on this score.

I reply:

You're right, Chris: If I generalized by saying that the fact that 3
Australians told me that favorite-burial is common in Australlian IRV proves
that every Australian knows that favorite-burial is common in Australian
IRV, then I was completely wrong to make that generalization.

But, Chris, would you do me a favor, and tell us the day of the posting in
which I said that the fact that 3 Australians told me that favorite-burial
is common in Australian IRV proves that all Australians know that
favorite-burial is common in Australian IRV?

I didn't say that the statement "ring[s] true to all Australians. I said
that three Australians have told me that. So you're saying that they're
liars?

Thank you, Chris, for your posts in which you tried to put me right, and for
standing by those posts. I stand by my report about what Australians have
said. Maybe the ratio is 3 to 2, or maybe it's equal. Let's call it equal.
Half of the Australians whose opinion I've heard say that favorite-burial is
common in Australian IRV, and the other half say that they haven't heard of
it.

Could it be that there are countries in which people don't all have the same
information, and therefore don't agree on everything? No, say it isn't so!
