A sports event is not quite like choosing the person who happens to be 
defending western civilization against the monarchy/ oligarchy killers in the 
old world.

The Electoral College math is ultra-dangerous.

Witness what happened after the minority rule election of Mr. Lincoln in 1860.

If the 2000 election had had 1860 or 1932 type conditions, one can only guess 
what might have happened.

Supporting ANTI-Democracy political structures like the Electoral College and 
the U.S.A. Senate is like supporting old notions of astronomy (such as the 
flat earth was claimed to be the center of the universe) --- basically and 
totally stupid and very dangerous.
