Mike-
I'm glad of your positive reply. If the others consent to helping with an
approval campaign, my next question is: Who will collaborate on a report
to release?
I know that releasing a report isn't historically the best way to advance a
cause. However, open any newspaper and you'll see at least one article
titled "According to a new study..." I'm willing to gamble that at least a
few media outlets will take the bait and look at a report by scientists
using the buzzword "election reform," especially if it includes interesting
international comparisons and data on the "spoiler problem."
Besides, writing the report and issuing press releases isn't expensive. If
nothing else, maybe magazines like "Scientific American" and "Discover"
would respond to an article written by scientists interested in election
reform. Discover gave coverage to Alan Natapoff, surely we can get their
attention (especially if I can talk Steven Brams into adding his name, as I
was able to talk him into joining "$2002 in 2002.").
