D- I for one can surely support or oppose an alternative in isolation. 
Examples-- 
Hitler 100 percent absolute opposition
Stalin  100 percent absolute opposition
Saddam  100 percent absolute opposition

Liberals might write the same about Mr. Gingrich. Conservatives might write
the same thing about Mr. Clinton.
