The Nov. 1996 issue of Popular Science, pp. 71-74, has some interesting info
about direct-recording electronic (DRE) voting (used by around 4.3 percent of
the voters) and polling.
Around 60 percent of all votes are now indirectly counted electronically
(punch cards, scanners).
A company called Sequoia Pacific Voting Machine Co. makes one type of DRE
equipment. Anybody in California available to get the equipment's
capabilities ?
