Hello Rob,

I have some important news to share with you.

As you probably guessed, I have not been coding much for this project.

It really is a shame that this project has not progressed much, for lack of
developers and general supporters.

If you remember well, one of my goals were to make a significant contribution
in view of the coming 2007 French presidential and legislative elections.

Recently, I have found another project that is backed up by an active group of
supporters and developers. It turned out that they were looking for someone
who could develop for them a web interface (client) for their project.

The project's name is the Democratic Experience and you can find more
information about it in the English section of the site:
http://www.demexp.org/
here is what I coded for them:
http://drupal.org/project/demexp
and a demo web site I set up for them:
http://demexp.ouvaton.org/

Still, I have been trying to promote electowidget and raise some interest, but
without much success.

http://groups.drupal.org/voting-systems
this is a group to develop voting modules for Drupal web sites using a special
Drupal API.
Within this group, I have tried to argue for using EW as a base API for
polling modules:
http://www.wechange.org/node/97
http://groups.drupal.org/node/237
but without much success.
Incidentally, Drupal is still without a simple Approval voting module.
(Oh! yes, there is: I just notice this: http://groups.drupal.org/node/1372 ).

Another important piece of news is related to the following event:
http://digg.com/programming/48hr_CODE_A_THON_for_Open_Source_Advocacy_Tools
http://www.leagueoftechvoters.org/drupal/
http://lotv-lockin.pbwiki.com/

I have just suggested a few modules for the event, including some that would
depend on ElectoWidget:
http://lotv-lockin.pbwiki.com/Suggested%20Modules
http://lotv-lockin.pbwiki.com/Ranked%20Pair%20Polling#EletowidgetAPI
http://lotv-lockin.pbwiki.com/Electowidget
http://lotv-lockin.pbwiki.com/Cardinal%20Voting

I will see if it generates some interest.

If it does, would you be available before and during the event, to merge my
code and whatever new code that may come out of the event, and also to answer
questions, etc?

It is a long shot, but it is still some publicity for your project.

yours,

Augustin.
