This consequence of turkey-raising could also be referred to as backfiring burial. You know that when burial backfires in Beatpath, that's considered<br>
a virtue, a deterrent. Then it's a virtue and a deterrent in the mutually-conditional methods too. Voters attempting burial strategy are asking for it. Don't<br>expect the method to protect voters practicing burial.<br>

<br>For public proposals, though, I'd say that ordinary Approval is at the top, with AOC next.<br><br>Though AOC is better, brings big improvement to Approval, it's also true that ordinary Approval already<br>had at least 3 other ways to deal with co-operation/defection:<br>
<br>1. Public declaration of principled refusal to accept a compromise or co-operate with a faction (Maybe under<br>specified conditions)<br><br>2. The consequences, in subsequent elections, of defection<br><br>3. Forest's solution (probabilistically-implemented in Approval)<br>
<br>Regarding #2, a good strategy for a defected-against faction would be to refuse to help the defectors<br>in the next election. Then give them another chance to co-operate in the election after that. Factions should make<br>
it clear that that will be their strategy.<br><br>In the co-operation/defection tournament for computer programs, described in Scientific American some time ago,<br>the winner was a program called "Tit-For-Tat". I believe that the strategy that I described in the above paragraph<br>
is the Tit-For-Tat strategy: Vote the same strategy that the other faction did in the previous election.<br><br>But SciAm later described another strategy that worked even better than Tit-For-Tat. I don't remember what it was,<br>
but it was nearly as simple as Tit-For-Tat.<br><br>The point is that there are good deterrent strategies for co-operation/defection.<br></div></div></blockquote><div><br></div><div>Tit-for-tat is a two-player strategy. It's not even clear what it means in a multiplayer context, much less that you can apply results from two-player studies.</div>
