I think this is very interesting, but I'm not sure how good it would look in other cases. In your example, the voters who like M are split 45/30 B to A. But if it was 45/1 I think these 46 people would still end up being represented by M, which wouldn't look so good to the B supporters.
Could it be done with a score ballot instead of approvals and conditional approvals? In your example, the 75 would still end up electing M based on them each giving 0.8 of an approval. If either faction defected, then the non-defecting faction would effectively be casting a vote for their favourite anyway, so it's not so obvious that there is a massive incentive to defect.
