Here is a proportional representation Borda count.
Form the approval ballots that produce the same approval scores as the Borda count.  That is, for each Borda ballot there is one approval ballot that approves the first ranked candidate, one approval ballot that approves the first and second ranked candidates, one approval ballot that approves the first, second, and third ranked candidates, etc.
Then use your favorite approval pr method on these approval ballots.
