Mike,
what about a version of MMT that we could call MAMT:
Define a Mutual Acquiescing Majority set S as a set of candidates that are acquiesced to on a majority of ballots, i.e. for each ballot of the given majority set of ballots, no candidate outside the set S is ranked or rated above any member of S.
Of all the candidates that are members of one or more Mutual Acquiescing Majority sets, elect the one with the most top ratings or rankings. If no candidate is in a MAM set, elect the one with the most top ratings or rankings.
