Hell, I was going to rewrite the letter for him, but this guy doesn't
deserve it.

Subject: [EM] Josh's letter
Dear Josh Narins:
You wrote:
Mike,
We all have problems.
Mine is constructive criticism.
Yours is writing.
No offense.
-Josh
I reply:
Judging from the above, I'd say that another problem that you have
is saying what you mean.
You mean that I haven't offended you? Good. Presumably you're
trying to tell me what your problem and my problem are, but I have
to admit that I don't understand what you're saying. If "no offense"
means that I shouldn't be offended, don't worry. When there's no
comprehension of a letter's meaning, there's no offense taken. However,
my time is limited, and so, though I'm not offended, it would be
better to not send me e-mail that is as unclear in meaning as the
one that you've just sent to me.
If you're saying that you don't like my writing, then I point out
that I don't write to please everyone. Maybe you disagree with the
content, or maybe you believe that you could have said it better.
Fine. Say it better. But don't waste my time by writing to me to
tell me that you don't like my writing style. Apparently my writing
is an important enough problem to you to cause you to take the time
to write to me about it. But don't waste my time about your problem
with my writing.
Mike Ossipoff
