If there are 3 or more choices, then obviously there may be a divided
majority.

Simple case-

      YES votes

26 AB
24 BA
49 C

99

A later place YES vote might be deemed conditional -- i.e. so as NOT to
injure an earlier place YES vote that is not paired equally.

Example-

   (* Yes conditional vote)

 2 A B*
24 A B
24 B A
49 C

100

If C cannot win, then some of the C voters may vote a lesser of evils vote
for A or B.

   (* Yes conditional vote)

2 A B*
24 A B
24 B A
46 C
 3 C B

99

Without conditional YES votes-

A 50
B 51
C 49

A 100 percent clone should have the same YES or NO status as the original.

Example-

N1 ABC
N2 BCA
N3 CAB

N total

A 100 percent clone Z of A is added ---

N1 AZBC
N2 BCAZ
N3 CAZB

N total

If an A vote is YES or NO, then the each Z vote has the same YES or NO vote
status.

Of course, if a partial clone is added (some votes have Z ahead of A), then
some of the votes for it may be YES or NO.

As usual, I note that a YES vote may be barely above zero percent on a plus
100 percent to minus 100 percent scale.

As usual -- sorry -- but even a 49.99 percent of the votes choice with 100
percent support on each vote still loses.

The above is why simple Approval is defective -- i.e. it does not rank the
choices.

The above can also be used for coalition politics with divided majorities in
legislative bodies.
