Approval Voting vs Instant Runoff Voting

Once again-- there will be polls (pending a constitutional amendment to
prohibit them).

If a candidate has the highest majority/ plurality in the polls, then his/her
voters would be rather stupid to make additional choices if Approval is being
used.

Approval is an interim remedy pending number voting combined with YES/NO
(especially if majority approval is required for single winner offices).

It is because Approval does not use number votes is why it is defective.

Where a candidate has de facto no chance of being elected, Approval would
show a much larger protest vote-- as for Nader, Browne, Buchanan, etc. in
2000.
