Sure, but e-mail can do anything that chat can do, given time
for enough replies. I invite IRVies to try to defend IRV, but
the open discussion of a mailing list has never been their
way.

Of course that's a disadvantage of chat, where with e-mail
one can just check messages & reply whenever convenient.

I'd be most likely to be able to participate in chat in evenings
& late afternoons in the -8 timezone.
