MOSCOW (AP) - On the final day of the presidential campaign, acting President 
Vladimir Putin sought today to overcome voter apathy that could rob him of a 
quick victory and urged Russians get out and vote in Sunday's election. 

Polls have given Putin a wide lead over the other 10 candidates, but it was 
unclear whether he would be able to muster the support needed for a 
first-round victory. To win, Putin needs a majority in a vote with better 
than 50 percent turnout. 

If fewer than half the eligible voters cast ballots or if Putin doesn't get 
at least 50 percent of the votes cast on Sunday, a second round of voting 
will be held on April 16.
