I agree that Craig's interpretation is more in keeping with what
insincerity really means. If someone asks me if chocolate is
better than vanilla, and I say "I'd rather not say", there's nothing
insincere about that.
When I rewrite my definition of insincerity, or adopt a different one, it 
shouldn't call
it insincere to not express a felt preference. Then I'll need to
use a different word for what some of my criteria stipulate,
which I've been calling "sincerity".
The most important practical consideration, however, is that
the way I define it works by simplifying the wording of my
criteria. But of course it now looks as if I should start looking
for another word, instead of "sincere", for what I stipluate in
my criteria.
