Those of you who have been closely following the Australian electoral fiasco
might find this entertaining. I should warn that it is not from the most
respected publication in the land and some of the details may be exaggerated
(David, you'll be happy to know that for once it isn't the Queensland Labor
Party);

SYDNEY: A pet cat was once registered to vote in an election, Australian
electoral officials have discovered. The case of voting fraud was uncovered
when a Liberal MP's letter to welcome Curacao Catt to his electorate was
returned to sender. The Australian Electoral Commission's Paul Dacey said
he did not know how long the cat had been registered, or whether it had ever
voted. An AEC spokesman said he did not know of any cases where pets were
eligible to vote in elections.
