Mount Holyoke College Voting Systems Expert Available to Comment on Issues

SOUTH HADLEY, Mass., Nov. 10 /U.S. Newswire/ -- Douglas J. Amy, a national 
expert on voting systems and reform, is available to discuss national voting 
reform and other matters in light of the possible split between the popular 
vote and the Electoral College and related calls for the abolishment of the 
Electoral College. 

Published this October, Amy's latest book, "Behind the Ballot Box: A 
Citizen's Guide to Voting Systems," spells out the political advantages and 
disadvantages associated with the voting systems used in Western democracies. 

In "Behind the Ballot Box," Amy provocatively argues that our country's 
plurality voting system is the true spoiler, not third party candidates such 
as Ralph Nader, who many are currently arguing will be this elections spoiler 
should Bush take Florida and win. 

Amy is also the author of "Real Choices, New Voices: The Case for P
roportional Representation Elections in the United States," the only current 
book discussing the case for proportional representation elections in the 
U.S., and maintains a Web resource on the topic.
