In my suggestsion for what P&P might
have meant, I should replace"loser" with
"candidate".

Markus says that P&P spoke of adding
rathrer than deleting candidates. Yes,
and that's why Ididn't say that my suggestion
was what they said, and why I instead said
only that maybe it was what they mean.

What they would have said if they'd
made an effort for a criterion that would
make sense when used with all methods,
including cardinal methods.
