Gibbard-Satterthwaite theorem

First, gerrymander isn't really an issue in choosing among
single-winner methods. Majority rule & LO2E are important,
widely-agreed-upon standards for sw methods.

Arrow has to be mentioned in the FAQ, since, as I said, someone
is sure to bring it up. Since someone academic is sure to
bring up Gibbard-Satterthwaite, when there's a reform proposal,
GS shoulb be brought up too in the FAQ. 

As I said, I believe that these things should be brought up
after the goals have been named, and the methods to meet
the goals have been described.

To that extent I agree with Demorep.

Where I disagree with him is where he seems to be saying that
the FAQ should list every method, or every proposed method.
Does Demorep realize what a quagmire that would be?

No, as I said, any effort to be "objective", and to include
every possibililty greatly multiplies the length of the FAQ,
and, the more "objective" (undecided) the FAQ sounds, the
more it will confuse the reader, and leaving him wanting
more answers. If someone wants simply a big list
of the methods & their definitions, he can find that in
the academic literature :-)
